Vannissimo!!!

While there are many wine shops in Lucca, there is one that stands head and shoulders above all others: ENOTECA VANNI. Located on the most charming of piazzas: San Salvadore, it began as a family business in the 1950's, and the same family runs it today. The shop, and its antique facade are deceivingly humble. Upon entering the shop, it appears like many others ..... but descend the stone steps at the back of the showroom and behold a treasure trove of caves, a tiny labyrinth of cellars, alcoves, tasting rooms and row upon row of curated wines and a lifetime collection of rare vintages. This is a Lucca icon, and in the summer it only gets better when just recently, they began to introduce tables on the piazza for tastings of wines and regional goodies. We can't think of a better way to while away an aperitivo hour. Or two. ... Salut!
